8/31/2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE ON OVERFLOW BLOCK-For some reason some got a message that all the rooms at the overflow hotel were gone but that has been corrected now. If you have had that problem booking, try again or call Bob Orleck if you cannot resolve it.

USS ORLECK DD 886 has a wonderful new home. Finally got her permanent berth and she is being taken care of by competent, caring people who understand her value and that she was and is worthy to be saved.
Veterans Day will be celebrated on the 11th of November this year and we will be celebrating with our 16th reunion since our first in San Antonio in 1993. It sure has been fun and it sure has gone quickly. We missed a reunion in 2020 but not this year. Let’s all gather one more time and pretend it is our first and best. In at least one way it will be. Not since she returned to us from Turkey in 2000, has she had a place to call home for good. She sure does now, and we want to see her and walk her decks again and we will.
Join us on the 10th, 11th and 12th of November and you can by registering with the registration form provided here. Don’t hesitate. Just do it! We do have a limited number of rooms so it will be on a “first come, first serve” basis.
UPDATES
Update: 8-12-2022 9:53 AM: Some have raised the question as to when the reunion actually starts. It begins on the 10th in the hospitality room where we will finalize registration, have a chance to mix and mingle, refreshments served and at lunch will be the traditional pizza served. In the evening we will have a banquet at the hotel. Plan-of-the-day for each day will be provided when done.
Update: 8-12-2022 9:56 AM: I have been asked where to send the registration and check and who to make the check payable to. Make check payable to “Destroyer USS ORLECK DD 886 Assn., and mail them to Destroyer USS ORLECK DD 886 Assn., P.O. Box 473, Shallotte, NC 28459. Any questions call or text me at 802-565-0340.
Update: 8-12-2022 10:18: I have heard the hotel rooms are about gone. Not sure how gone but it raised a concern that might happen to you if you have not registered. If you haven’t, go to registration form link and get it done. If you get news there are no rooms, do not give up. Contact me at 802-565-0340 by call or text. If I don’t know, I can do nothing to fix it. Bob
Update 8-12-2022 10:59 AM: You are expected to do a complete registration when doing so. That means mailing a copy of the completed registration form and a check to cover the events with it. You are of course responsible for your own hotel payment for room nights, but please get it all done at one time. I need finality in registration and so when you take the limited hotel rooms, I need to know you are truely coming with the receipt by me of a registration form and a check. Please be mindful of this because we will probably run out of rooms and some will be unable to attend.
Update 8/16/2022. 3:25 PM. The DOUBLETREE HOTEL, our host hotel, has sold our entire block of rooms so when you call to make reservations, you may get that news. It is also possible that someone had withdrawn so you may get a room. That’s good news that there is such interest, but it is bad news for some who haven’t as yet registered. But here is the GOOD NEWS! The Southbank Hotel by Marriott within walking distance of our host hotel, the DOUBLETREE, has given us 20 additional rooms for the period for the same price of $119 per night. I will have a link to register at that hotel soon so stay tuned.
